Recommended:

MASUROTA® is a probiotic high dosage consortium of Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium short, Bifidobacterium longum, Bacillus subtilis, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Entertoccccus faecium and Streptococcus thermophilus, plus Inulin, a prebiotic promoting the growth/activity of the bacterial flora.
Probiotics (pro-bios: pro-life) are "live micro-organisms which, when administered in adequate quantities, bring a benefit to the health of the host" and their use dates back to the early 1900s. To be defined as probiotic, a micro-organism must have very specific characteristics:
- being normally present in our intestines, not give allergic or otherwise harmful reactions;
- belong to the list of bacterial species presumptively qualified as safe by EFSA. In any case, probiotic micro-organisms must not be carriers of acquired and/or transmissible antibiotic resistance;
- be active, persistent (able to adhere to intestinal walls and colonise) and viable (able to reproduce) in the intestine in sufficient quantity to justify any beneficial effects observed in efficacy studies;
- be capable of conferring a proven physiological benefit (FAO/WHO document on the evaluation of probiotics for food use).
MASUROTA® is packaged in clear, vegetarian, gastro-resistant DRcaps. This avoids the use of bleaching agents (titanium dioxide). The capsules are also suitable for vegetarians and certified Halal and Kosher. DRcaps technology also masks unpleasant odours or flavours and protects the probiotics from gastric acidity, ensuring they arrive alive and viable in the intestinal tract, maintaining their effectiveness.

- When is it recommended to take MASUROTA® 50 MLD? 1 capsule a day or as directed by a doctor to contribute to the balance and well-being of the intestinal microbiota, the so-called ‘bacterial flora’.
- Is it preferable to take MASUROTA® 50 MLD on an empty or full stomach? There are two clearly opposing points of view. Some recommend taking probiotics on an empty stomach (2-3 hours after meals) to optimise their effect and presence in the intestine, to avoid the simultaneous presence of digestive enzymes. Indeed, during food digestion, the gastric pH varies and could damage the probiotics. On the other hand, prolonged fasting (after the night, for example) also makes the stomach very acidic and it is precisely the presence of food that mitigates gastric acidity and stimulates faster emptying and passage of material into the intestine, minimising the exposure of probiotics to attacks by digestive juices and allowing them to be in a hydrated environment rich in nutrients (especially sugars and fats). It must also be remembered that probiotic strains have different pH sensitivities so that while some may be damaged, others would still pass the gastric barrier. MASUROTA is formulated in DR CAPS, vegetable capsules, without chemical bleaching agents, suitable for vegetarians and vegans and gastro-resistant, allowing easy use regardless of gastric acidity. In the gastro-resistant capsules, the probiotics reach the intestine protected, where they are released and begin their work, allowing easy use of the product at all times. It is recommended to take it in the evening with water, simply for convenience, without having to take the packet out of the house with the risk of forgetting it or exposing it to temperature changes, especially in summer.
- Does it contain gluten and lactose? NO, MASUROTA® 50 MLD does not contain Gluten and does not contain Lactose
- How do I know which dosage to choose? MASUROTA is formulated in two dosages, 25 and 50 billion live and viable probiotics. Generally speaking, the lower dosage is used where gastrointestinal complaints are mild and general, in the case of an irritable colon and bloating, during periods of adaptation to new situations (mild stress, change of diet and climate), in conjunction with brief antibiotic therapies. The 50 billion dosage can be used where the microbiota may be altered by major events such as severe post-antibiotic diarrhoea or radio and chemotherapy or infections. It is recommended that you consult your doctor to assess your condition and whether you should take MASUROTA. Taking probiotics is generally safe and well-tolerated, however in the acute phases of inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulitis it may not be indicated, reserving it for periods of remission to prevent relapses, for which you should consult your doctor, as well as taking them to help resolve chronic relapsing infections, such as genito-urinary and prostatic infections.
- How long is the use of MASUROTA® 50 MLD recommended? Generally, 3-4 weeks are recommended to allow effective action and exploit the benefits. There are also many possible schemes, prolonged or in cycles that the doctor can adopt according to specific needs. Studies have generally shown the absence of side effects for prolonged use, which, on the contrary, stabilise results locally and in general in the absence of specific contraindications and personal situations of incompatibility with taking it
- I suffer from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), which dosage is best? SEE «WHAT DOSAGE TO CHOOSE».
- If I have diarrhoea, what dosage should I take? On a full or empty stomach? SEE «WHAT DOSAGE TO CHOOSE».
- I am intolerant to yeast, can I take Masurota®? In such cases, you should consult your doctor. It is indeed possible that in the early stages the administration of probiotics should preferably be avoided or limited to days of dietary freedom. In general, after the first 2-4 weeks of dietary treatment following a yeast reaction, the use of probiotics is suggested
- Is it useful for constipation? It depends on the underlying cause. Probiotics can help restore intestinal balance if the constipation is due to an incorrect lifestyle, which must be corrected in any case. In cases where constipation is a consequence of pathologies such as slowed transit, impaired pelvic floor function, prolapse, neurological diseases, the advice of the treating physician is mandatory to establish the advisability of taking probiotics.
- Why should it not be kept in the refrigerator like other probiotics? MASUROTA is formulated in DR CAPS, vegetable capsules, without chemical bleaching agents, suitable for vegetarians and vegans and gastro-resistant and containing the probiotics freeze-dried and therefore stable at room temperature, allowing them to be used more easily. However, it is advisable to protect them from exposure to high temperatures, e.g. by not leaving them in the car during the summer season
